Conversing with Time, Acrylic on Canvas, 95 x 80cm
In Indonesia, traditional architecture bears evidence of our rich cultural heritage; however, the rise of urbanization constitutes a mounting threat to their presence. This piece aims to encourage the preservation and restoration of unique historical environments. Three traditional Indonesian architectural structures are evident in the painting Tongkonan (left), Candi Bentar (right), and Candi Borobudur (center); the abstractionist style is purposely adopted when painting the Borobudur to show that we are slowly losing our traditional buildings to modern ones.
